The start of the new year is the perfect time to set new goals and revisit your business plans. But, let's face it, considering all of your goals can start to make your head spin.
Ever wish that you could ask other business owners what they are working on? Here's your chance.
We asked some of our favorite online business owners about their goals for 2017 and compiled their answers. We found three overwhelming themes among the goals: improving back-office management, increasing profits, and overall growth.
Get inspired by the 2017 goals of other businesses.
Improving Back-Office Processes
From managing the financial side to increasing relationships with brands and sponsors, in 2017, many online business owners want to improve their management of their business. We're talking financials and all things business. We know that this is not a favorite for many of you, who prefer the more creative aspects of your business. We love the idea of delegating here, especially for financial and legal work, if that's not your specialty.
Check out the goals in this category:
Whitney from Beauty in the Mess: Keep better track of my financials.
Brandi from Mama Knows It All: Organize the business side. From tracking financials to sending invoices, I'd like it to run more like a corporation than a one-woman show.
Niki from The Lady Prefers 2 Save: I set up new accounting files for taxes, profits, I'm in the process of obtaining my LLC, and have set up a long-term savings account for my blog to help me further make financial strides for myself in 2017.
Kisha from NakishaWynn.com: My biggest goal for my blog in 2017 is to learn the business of it. I want to really get a handle on how to work with brands and influencers to better serve my reader friends.
Winona from Southern Family Fun: My goal for 2017 is to definitely be more organized and also outsource and delegate for more help. Also looking for more guest postings/writers.
Monetizing and Profits
One of our favorite podcasters, Natalie Eckdahl of Biz Chix, referred to 2017 as the Year of Profit. We love this and we saw this theme reflected in the goals of so many other business owners.
Here are the Profit goals:
Leila from Life as Leels: My #1 goal is to make a consistent income of $1000 strictly from my blog so that I can quit working my part time/on call job for another business.
Paula Kiger from Big Green Pen: Position myself better to be attractive as an influencer, starting with adding a media kit.
Kelly from Imperfectly His: Publish my first book! Monetize & do more speaking
Kia from Come Wag Along: My biggest goal for 2017 is to work with more brands and network more. I'll be going to my first blog conference this year.
Nanette from A Mom Blog: To build a long lasting business relationship/ambassadorship with a few brands.
Product and Audience Expansion
We knew we'd see a lot of topics related to expansion on the list of goals. Quite simply, many bloggers are reaching to build their audiences and to grow beyond their blogs. This may mean looking for ways to boost traffic with new audiences or introducing new products, likes books or courses.
Take a look at the goals in this category.
Crystal from Exploration America: network with marketers and digital influencers through travel
Crystal at Surviving a Teacher's Salary: Find innovative ways to market my brand differently than “just” my normal content. I want to have a non-digital aspect to offer my readers.
Dina from Outsource Easier: “One of my goals is to significantly increase my traffic by using Pinterest.”
Victoria from Philly Baby Bump: “My biggest goal in 2017 is to think bigger! I plan to do this by expanding my hyper local blog concept to another city and launching a book that will help expectant moms across America to better prepare for maternity leave.”

Elizabeth from I'm A Natural Chick: My goal is to work more with brands and increases my exposure for this site online
Billie from Vintage Recipe Project: Get my greeting card line launched.
Kimberly from Things I Thought I'd Never: My biggest goal for my online business is in line with my word for the year, “pursue.” For me it means pursuing opportunities, moving beyond fear and comparison, doing what I need to do in order to have the type of impact I am supposed to have. And to enjoy the process, focusing on the end result, instead of being overwhelmed by the details.
Michelle from MichelleDGarrett.com: In 2017 I'm focusing on being more consistent with my online presence and increasing engagement and, of course, sales. I have speaking engagements and vendor events planned and will be incorporating social media engagement with the opportunities to increase my reach and visibility.
Jennifer from Jersey Family Fun: One of my goals is to use SEO strategy to improve my rankings on posts and CTR on posts that rank well. Additionally, between that and opportunities for exposure I will position myself as a must work with influencer when it comes to NJ venues and attractions.
Rivkah from Aspiring Mompreneur: For 2017 I want to help as many moms as possible to build the business of their dreams. That means I have to show up consistently and boldly in my social media and email platforms.
Nancy from Whispered Inspirations: To create more evergreen and useful content for my readers.
